Who is a Urologist?

Urology is a field of medicine that focuses on the diseases of the urinary tracts. The urinary tracts play has important functions such as the processes of storage and removal of urine from the body.

urologist is a doctor that treats conditions of the urinary tracts of both men and women. Their work also includes diagnosing and treating reproductive tracts in men. 


When to visit a Urologist? 

There are various reasons to visit a nephrologist, some of which are listed below.


For both men and women:

  • Blood in the urine
  • Problems in urinating, such as pain or burn
  • Weak urine flow
  • Frequent urge to urinate


For women:

  • UTIs (Urinary tract infections) are infections of kidneys, ureters, bladder, or urethra.

  • Interstitial cystitis is a chronic condition that causes bladder pain and pelvic pain.
  • Prostatitis is a condition when inflammation of the prostate gland occurs.
  • UTIs (Urinary tract infections)
  • Varicoceles are when veins in the scrotum enlarge.
  • Cancer of the testicles, prostate glands, bladder, kidney, penis.
  • Infertility is a condition when a couple cannot bear babies (pregnant) after trying for a long time.
